New Business: - Estrella Party needs you. Her Excellency, Mistress Katrei came and talked briefly about needing fingerfood items for the Estrella Hospitality party. Freezer-space no object. Get your food to her and she will see that it gets to Estrella. Or, send it with a friend who is going. Or best – take it yourself. Great weather for those tired of winter snow and slush. If you need help coming up with recipes - Kateryn (your guildhead) had over 70 recipes to select from.
- Copies of the revised Charter and Bylaws were passed around with deletions and additions marked. Motion to accept the changes was voted on and passed. The revised Charter and Bylaws will be sent to TRM for their approval. After approval, the revised charter and bylaws will be posted to our web site. http://www.geocities.com/athens/acropolis/4756/cguildh.htm
- The guild will sponsor an IronChef competition at the Shire March of Grimfells on April 28th at their MarchWarden event. We will be trying out our IronChef competition rules for the first time. Competition announcement will be posted to our website before New Year’s Day.
-
We are looking for more events at which to sponsor not only IronChef competitions but also other types of cooking competitions, classes, or demonstrations. Please let Juliana know if your group would like the guild to sponsor a cooking competition, classes or hold a meeting at your event. Her e-mail address is: taustin@madonna.org
- Our next informal meeting will be at 12th Night in Lonely Tower(Omaha NE). I will have IronChef flyers for the Grimfell’s event with me as well as copies of the IronChef rules for guild-sponsored competitions. I will also have copies of period fingerfood recipes with me should anyone need one, or two, or more. And the next meeting after that will be at Queen’s Prize Tourney.
General Discussion
How do you keep a forcemeat entry (in a tower) cold enough during a competition to keep bacteria from growing? Several possibilities:
- use cold packs beneath and on top of the entry, removing the top cold pack during the actual judging and then restoring it until the entry may be served.
- use a liner (either cheesecloth or muslin) into which the forcemeat is packed just before judging. Then remove the entire meat (in the liner) from the tower and store in a cooler until time to eat.
Other News of Note:
We had 19 members show up for our meeting. Thank you very much for this turnout. Going into Kris Kinder we had 34 people listed on our roster, so this was more than half of our membership showing up for a single meeting. We also added 11 more people to our roster that day.
Please don’t hesitate to let your officers (Kateryn de Develyn (dhense@ifmc.org), Melisande Saucheverel (morsuljun@juno.com) or Jimena Osorio de Solis (isemay@hotmail.com)) know of any ideas you may have for projects, competitions, fundraisers, or classes you would like to see taught.
